Call for Artists
Celebrate 100 years of Saint Mary’s by applying for the Centennial Exhibition! This special exhibition is curated by Twin Cities Library's Art on Park program and will feature artistic works of SMU alumni, staff, and students from the past 100 years.
Applicants may submit one piece to be included in the Centennial Exhibition. The exhibition will open on March 9, 2013 and conclude in October 2013. Applications must be submitted by December 1, 2012. Learn more about the exhibit here.
Super Search...Everything at Once
[Read in a low, movie trailer voice] In a world...filled with homework...family...and work responsibilities...the thought of searching databases one by one breeds fear in the hearts of Saint Mary's students.
Fear no longer, gentle researchers. Super Search to the rescue! POW! This fall Twin Cities Library purchased Super Search, a robust and very muscled discovery tool that enables you to search faster than a speeding bullet for articles, eBooks, print books, videos, and more - ALL at once. BAM! Super Search combines the convenience and simplicity of Google with the credibility and sophistication of the Library's databases.
Super Search will arrive to the Library's website later this fall, so stay tuned for upcoming announcements.
83,000 eBooks and Not a Thing to Wear.
You already knew the Twin Cities Library was a digital library, but recently our digital footprint really stepped it up, if you will. Thanks, I will. Twin Cities Library now subscribes to EBSCO eBooks, a database with over 83,000 eBooks that you can view online or download to your e-reader.
Subjects include art, business, education, literary criticism, biographies, history, law, psychology, medicine, and religion. And fiction, in case you find time to read for pleasure!

You are sitting in the doctor's office waiting room perusing through Highlights for Children, and you think to yourself, "Gosh, this is a great periodical. I only wish I could follow it all of the time."
Well, now you can with Journals and eBooks A-Z. Beginning this fall, you can find out which journals Twin Cities Library owns by searching Journals and eBooks A-Z, a potent way to learn about the electronic and print
subscriptions that you have access to as a Saint Mary's student or
You'll be able to find out exactly which issues of every journal we have in our databases - and you can link directly to them. The user-friendly Journals and eBooks A-Z replaces and improves upon Journal Finder. Later this fall, access Journals and eBooks A-Z from the Library's home page.
It happens all the time in scholarly research: You find an article on the open Web that looks perfect for your topic, click on the link, and get…the abstract, plus an offer to give you the whole article if you’ll just let Publisher X charge $30 to your credit card.
SMU Library is in the business of making sure you never, ever pay a publisher for full-text, and now we've made it easier for you with Google Scholar Findit @ SMU.
