SMU Twin Cities Library : Library Instruction

Library Instruction

You may request library instruction for your course. Librarians deliver instruction in-person and via webinar. Instruction is provided during regularly scheduled class time and lasts approximately one hour.

Requirements:
Research shows that students learn information literacy skills best when they apply what they have learned. For that reason, librarians require that:

  • The library instruction segment relate to a student learning objective of the course.
  • There be a graded assignment given to students that relates to the information presented in the library instruction session.
  • The library instruction session be scheduled in a computer lab. Instructors who are interested in scheduling a library instruction session for a course should request library instruction at least two weeks before the requested class time.
