Print Resources for Alumni
We're happy to report you can always access the Twin Cities Library's print collections, although how you access our resources is a little different now that you're an alum. Learn about these changes below.
Alumni are welcome to use any of our library resources within the Twin Cities Library. Resources include books, DVDs, journals, dissertations, study guides, and assessment tests. We have facilities for you to watch DVDs and, yes, even our classic VHS tapes. Use the link above to search our library catalog. Reservations are not required, but you may want to contact us beforehand to ensure your items are available (we're happy to set items aside for you).
Want to bring an item home? Use the MnLINK Gateway catalog to get books, DVDs, dissertations, audio books, CDs—anything from a Minnesota library, including your beloved Twin Cities Library! Instead of checking the item out from us, you'll go through your public library and order the item through interlibrary loan. Minnesota has a fantastic and free interlibrary loan system, and with your public library card you can access virtually any library resource from all corners of the state, including our little corner of the Twin Cities. <3Please note: Some items in the Twin Cities Library's collections cannot be circulated through interlibrary loan, including assessment tests.
If you want immediate access to academic books and videos that you can check out and take home, another option for locally-situated alumni is to become a member of the University of Minnesota Friends of the Library. Cost is $80/year for individuals. The loan period is six weeks; you can check out 25 items at a time. This option does not include remote access to online resources.
