How do I request an article?

Always check the Saint Mary's Library's Journal Finder before requesting journal articles to verify if the library has access to the article. Many articles that are not in one library database may be available in another. For more information, go to the Journal Finder Tutorial. If Saint Mary's University of MN Library does not have access to the article, you can submit a request in several ways.


Methods for Submitting Article Requests

 

Ordering with the blank article request form

    • A login page will appear
    • Fill in the following information:
      • Barcode number (found on your student id card starting in 235...)
      • Password (your last name up to eight letters)
    • Click Log On

    • Enter in the following:
      1. Journal title
      2. ISSN ( eight digit number separated by a dash xxxx-xxxx)
      3. Year published
      4. Volume
      5. Issue number
      6. Author of article
      7. Title of article
      8. Page numbers
      9. Needed by date will be automatically filled in for you
      10. Check the copyright checkbox
      11. Click Go to submit your request

CONGRATULATIONS! You have successfully completed the article request. A confirmation will appear that you can print. Your article will be emailed to your Saint Mary's University account typically within 3-10 days for titles available within Minnesota. If you requested it arrive in print, you will receive an email that the article has arrived, and the article may be picked up during library hours or mailed to your home address. When you click on the , a window will pop-up that shows how you can access the article. There are three options:

1. The article is available online.
Saint Mary's University of MN has access to the American Journal of Education within five databases as shown below. By clicking the database link (i.e. EBSCOhost Academic Search Premier), typically takes you directly to the article in the database without any further searching. Use the journal availability dates listed under the database link in order to select the database that would provide access to your article.


2. Twin Cities Campus Library has the journal available in print.

You also have access online to a wider range of dates, but note that the online access does not include the latest year of the journal, whereas the print subscription does.


3. You do not have online or local print access.
You need to order the article through Interlibrary Loan. See the directions below for making a request using .

    • Click the red Go button and the login form pops-up.

    • Enter in your barcode and password:
      • Barcode number (found on your student id card starting in 235...)
      • Password (your last name up to eight letters)
      • Click on Log On
    • A partially completed article request form will pop-up
    • Check the checkbox next to " I have read the above statement and agree to abide by its restrictions".
    • Click Go
