Instructors may place material on reserve for student use for the duration of one semester. Reserve
items may be supplemental or required material for courses. To place items on reserve for a class,
instructors should contact a library staff member and include the following information:
- check-out period
- semester to be placed on reserve
- course number and title
- contact information

Books |

Library copies from the Saint Mary's University Library or an instructor's personal copy may be
placed on reserve. |
The library is not responsible for any lost or damaged personal copies of books. |
Books that have been borrowed from other libraries may not be placed on reserve. |
Course packs may not be placed on reserve. |
At the end of the semester, books will be removed from reserve unless other arrangements are
made with a Saint Mary's University librarian. |
Journal Articles |

Federal Copyright Law applies to the reproduction of copyrighted materials and to their use
in a library collection. Due to copyright law, photocopied articles may be placed on reserve for one
semester only unless written proof of copyright permission is obtained from the copyright holder. |

Any photocopies of journal articles placed on reserve will be stamped with a notice of copyright. |
Faculty members assume responsibility for any infringement of the copyright law. |
The library staff will not place items on reserve that are in violation of the law. |
At the end of each semester, all photocopied articles will be returned to instructors. |
