Doctoral dissertations and master's theses are a vital fund of scholarship for any discipline. The massive body of work available through ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT) represents the most comprehensive source of academic research in the world.

ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Open (PQDT Open) offers free PDF full text of dissertations and theses published as open access works.

Open Access Theses and Dissertations (OATD) indexes open access graduate theses and dissertations published around the world. Metadata comes from over 600 colleges, universities, and research institutions. OATD currently indexes over 1.5 million theses and dissertations.

The OCLC catalog of dissertations and theses lists dissertations available in libraries across the United States. Use this database to browse thousands of dissertations, then request them through Interlibrary Loan.

From their Web site: "The aim of EThOS is to offer a 'single point of access' where researchers the world over can access ALL theses produced by UK Higher Education." Most of the theses indexed on this site are Open Access and can thus be downloaded for free. You do have to sign up for a free EThOS account to access the theses.

Dissertation Express is an online ordering service, through which students and faculty members can browse and purchase from over 1.9 million graduate dissertations and theses. Dissertations ordered online are available in unbound shrink-wrapped format only.
To order, please give TC Library your dissertation request and a check written directly to ProQuest. It is less expensive to order through TC Library's account than as an individual ($33 versus $44). TC Library will order the dissertation from ProQuest, take care of the billing and invoice, and alert you when your dissertation is available for pick up.
