Renewing Items

If you need a library item (books, videos, dissertations, etc.) for a period longer than your original loan, you can extend the due date by requesting a renewal.

Items Owned by Twin Cities Library

  1. Go to the Twin Cities Library homepage.
  2. Mouseover My Accounts from the top of the page.
  3. Select MnPALS (Renew Items) from the drop-down list.
  4. Log in using your Saint Mary's username and password (same as Blackboard, Gmail, and WebTools).
  5. Find the item you would like to renew. Note: If your item is not in the list, follow the directions below starting with #5.
  6. Check the checkbox to the left of the title.
  7. Select Renew Selected Items at the top of the list.
  8. Success! After selecting the Renew this button, a gray window should pop up displaying your new due date. Note: If the book you would like to renew has a Book-ILL Request button next to it, use the directions below to request a renewal.

Items Owned by Other Libraries

  1. Go to the Twin Cities Library homepage.
  2. Mouseover My Accounts from the top of the page.
  3. Select MnPALS (Renew Items) from the drop-down list.
  4. Log in using your Saint Mary's username and password (same as Blackboard, Gmail, and WebTools).
  5. Select Interlibrary Loan Requests on the right.
  6. Find the item you would like to renew.
  7. Check the checkbox to the left of the title.
  8. Select Renew Selected Items at the top of the list.
  9. A window will pop-up asking, Do you wish to renew your selected ILLs?
  10. Select the OK button.
  11. The status will change to Waiting for Renewal Reply.
  12. You will not immediately get an new due date. We will email your Saint Mary's Gmail account when the lending library has either granted or denied your renewal request.
