Getting APA Citations

Writing APA citations from scratch can be time consuming and totally unnecessary. The following databases provide pre-made APA citations that you can copy and paste into a reference list.

SuperSearch

  • Search the title of the item in quotes (e.g., "Grapes of Wrath").
  • Select the title of the item to view the abstract, citation, and full text.
  • Select Cite in the toolbar menu on the right side of the page.
  • Copy and paste the citation that appears at the top of the page into your reference page.
  • Email yourself a citation using the email link.
  • Check the citation for APA formatting accuracy. Note: eBook citations are incorrect. Use the Twin Cities Writing Center's eBook handout to cite eBooks.

Google Scholar

  • Search the title of the item in quotes (e.g., "Grapes of Wrath").
  • Select Cite under the title of the item on the results page.
