August
- October 2005 Update
While
the updates on this website have not been coming regularly, please
don't assume that our collective foot has been on the brake on
self-study this fall. Quite the contrary! The last three months
have been full of self-study work. On August 22, all committees
again met in Red Wing for half-day working meetings. Criterion
committees each hosted two break-out sessions during University
Convocation Day on August 24 th which allowed faculty and staff
members from all campuses an opportunity to talk with the committees
about any concerns that they may have regarding criteria specific
issues. These sessions included a brief update on committee activities;
however, they were mostly an opportunity for committee members
to listen. The Self-Study Steering Committee Chair and Self-Study
Coordinator again presented information on self-study to the new
group of student senators at the College on the Winona Campus.
They also presented to the group last year, but provided an update
on progress to them in late September. Student members of self-study
committees also spoke about their self-study work. The Student
Senate was asked to assist with getting undergraduate students
to complete the survey that was sent out in early October. Criterion
committees are hard at work preparing their first drafts of their
portion of the document. Part of that process includes coming
to some agreement with all committee members about what findings
should be included. Recommendations are also being formulated
for the purpose of improvement. The survey was sent to students
in the College and in the School of Graduate and Professional
Programs in mid-October. The survey for faculty and staff will
be coming out in early November.
