March
- August 2004 Update
The university planning
process for Self-Study 2004-2006 actively began in Spring 2004
with meetings of a small leadership team. Members of the team
attended the Higher Learning Commission’s Annual Meeting,
including a special day-long session on self-study. Tracy Lehnertz
was appointed Self-Study Coordinator, and Dr. Jeffrey Highland
was appointed Chair of the Self-Study Steering Committee. A Self-Study
Steering Committee of thirteen people representing faculty, staff,
and administration was formed to lead the university through this
initiative. In June, ten individuals were invited to serve as
co-chairs for the criterion committees. Each committee has a co-chair
from the Twin Cities campus and a co-chair from the Winona campus.
At the Fall 2004 Faculty/Staff Workshop, Brother President Louis
Dethomasis formally kicked-off Self-Study 2004-2006 and challenged
the community to undertake a process that is open and honest for
the purpose of institutional improvement. Dr. Jeffrey Highland,
Provost and Chair of the Steering Committee, addressed the community
and provided an overview of the reaccreditation process, and introduced
the Steering Committee and Co-Chairs. Input was solicited from
V.P.’s and others regarding possible members of criterion
committees.
