The La Salle Quintet was founded in the fall of 2003 as a faculty ensemble
of the SMU Music Department. Members are both full time and part-time
applied instructors in the music program at Saint Mary's. The ensemble is a
standard woodwind quintet, made up of flute (Janet Heukeshoven), oboe (Layla
Gau Lunde), clarinet (Sylva Hanson), horn (Tammy Bartz), and bassoon (Jen
Welch).
The ensemble performs a wide variety of traditional and contemporary works
for winds, and has performed recitals in the Figliulo Recital Hall at SMU,
the La Crosse New Music Festival, and a schools throughout the region. As
professional music educators/artists, the quintet is available for
performances in educational settings as well as formal recitals and private
