Skemp Hall was originally built in 1922 as a two-level gymnasium annex to Heffron Hall. In 1965 it was remodeled into a three story residence hall. At that time, it was named in honor of Thomas Skemp, a beloved teacher and coach of the 1920s. Skemp houses 105 freshman women in double rooms. Rooms are uncarpeted and are aproximately 15 x17. Skemp boasts walk-in closets and multiple private showers and restrooms on each floor. The hall has large TV lounges for student use, laundry facilities on each floor, and a kitchen on the second floor. As this is a residence hall designated for first-year students, it is a substance-free hall.
