ARGOS "Limited-area search of the ancient and medieval Internet." Argos contains a search engine, which finds links to peer-reviewed sites on ancient and medieval history. It also provides links to associate sites and related searching tools. http://argos.evansville.edu

CLASSICAL ATLAS PROJECT This University of North Carolina project has large, detailed maps, such as topographic maps and maps showing towns, roads, and canals. EXPLORING ANCIENT WORLD CULTURES This site began as an on-line course supplement for use by students and teachers of the University of Evansville. It covers eight cultures, including ancient Greece and Rome. It provides links to other similar web sites. http://eawc.evansville.edu

THE GREEKS: Crucible of Civilization. This web page is based on the PBS television series "Empires." It contains interactive maps, photographs, movies, and learning modules. http://pbs.org/empires/thegreeks

THE PERSEUS DIGITAL LIBRARY This is an "evolving digital library on Ancient Greece." Perseus provides the full text of primary and secondary sources on Greek and Roman history, special exhibits online, links to archaeological sites, and links to Museum exhibits. http://www.perseus.tufts.edu

ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESOURCE GUIDE FOR EUROPE ARGE organizes links to web pages on European archaeological sites. Links can be searched by topic, geography, and historic period. 1100 sites from 38 countries are indexed. http://odur.let.rug.nl/arge

INDEX OF NATIVE AMERICAN RESOURCES ON THE WEB "Although this site was produced with the Native American community in mind, its links to more than 4000 sites are useful for the general public as well." This directory site finds links to internet pages on Native American art, language, education and activism, as well as archaeology. http://www.hanksville.org/NAresources

METIS: a QTVR Interface for Ancient Greek Archaeological Sites. This site is produced by the University of Texas at Austin. Take a virtual tour of famous Greek historical sites. Technology allows users to point and move around the sites, zoom in and out of still photos, or see a diagram of the original building or city. http://www.stoa.org/metis

MUSEUM OF RECONSTRUCTIONS The Museum uses 3-D computer models to reconstruct historical sites. Its first project, Temenos, is a digital reconstruction of the Athenian Acropolis. Future projects include the reconstruction of the Temple of Athena Nike and the Pyramid of Senworset III. http://www.reconstructions.org

NATIONAL PARK SERVICE This US government site provides information for the public and professionals on archaeology projects in national parks. There is information on ways to volunteer for archaeology field work in the parks; it provides access to technical publications; and there are links to archaeology in their parks. There is also a link to the the NCPTT NATIONAL CENTER FOR PRESERVATION, TECHNOLOGY, & TRAINING (http://ncptt.nps.gov/per ) The goal of this NPS project is to "enhance the art, craft and science of preservation and conservation." NCPTT gives grants for preservation projects, archaeology education initiatives, and research aimed at improving information management and dissemination in archaeology and preservation. http://www.nps.gov

THE BOOK OF GODS, GODDESSES, HEROES, AND OTHER CHARACTERS OF MYTHOLOGY. This web page takes the form of an on-line book. Chapters pertain to mythological characters, characters in folklore, characters in epics, and a Gods Gallery. BREWER'S DICTIONARY OF PHRASE AND FABLE This is an on-line version of the well-known reference work first published in 1870.
