The American Memory Project of the Library of Congress provides primary textual and graphical sources relating to American history and culture. "Provides free and open access through the Internet to written and spoken words, sound recordings, still and moving images, prints, maps, and sheet music that document the American experience."

Archives Hub-- a national gateway to descriptions of digital archives in UK colleges and universities

Minnesota Refections--from the Minnesota Digital Library Coalition provides access to more than 6,000 images from 28 collections from around the state (official launch October 1, 2005).

New York Public Library Digital Gallery--NYPL Digital Gallery "provides access to over 373,000 images digitized from primary sources and printed rarities in the collections of The New York Public Library, including illuminated manuscripts, historical maps, vintage posters, rare prints and photographs, illustrated books, printed ephemera, and more."

OAIster Search--"is a project of the University of Michigan Digital Library Production Service. Our goal is to create a collection of freely available, previously difficult-to-access, academically-oriented digital resources that are easily searchable by anyone."

Prints and Photographs Reading Room (online catalog)-- "Unique in their scope and richness, the prints and photographs collections today number more than 13.7 million images. These include photographs, fine and popular prints and drawings, posters, and architectural and engineering drawings. While international in scope, the collections are particularly rich in materials produced in, or documenting the history of, the United States and the lives, interests and achievements of the American people."

TimeLife Pictures--"Time Life Pictures represents some of the world's most recognizable imagery. On this website, we offer content from the finest photojournalists, documenting past and present political and cultural events, as well as celebrities and the American experience."

University of WI Digital Collection "The University of Wisconsin Digital Collections provides quality digital resources from its academic libraries to UW faculty, staff and students, citizens of the state, and scholars at large." Wonderfully eclectic collection moving from folk songs to James Joyce to natural history of birds with much more in between.
