BIOME is created by a core team of information specialists and subject experts based at the University of Nottingham Greenfield Medical Library, in partnership with key organisations throughout the UK and further afield.
Blonz Guide To Nutrition, Food Science, & Health
Ed Blonz, who is an author and columnist, produces this web site. Blonz lists useful sites for consumers interested in nutrition and health issues. Links are given to non-profit organizations, government sites, university research centers, and companies in the food industry.

Intelihealth This consumer information site is produced by the Aetna Insurance Co. It contains the health information from Harvard Medical School and the University of Pennsylvania College of Dentistry. There are opportunities to chat and shop.

SAMHSA National Clearinghouse For Alchohol and Drug Abuse InformationThe Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is a division of the US Department of Health and Human Services. Its mission is "improving the quality and availability of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitative services." The web page gives information on programs and grants administered by SAMHSA. It also contains the full text of its reports and statistical surveys.

State Health Facts--data on more than 400 different health topics for all 50 states here, accessible via an interactive map, by category or by keyword search. "Data presented on statehealthfacts.org are a selection of key health and health policy issues collected from a variety of public and private sources, including: original Kaiser Family Foundation reports, data from public websites, and information purchased from private organizations."
WEB MD Web MD is the "leading provider of online information, research, educational services, and communities for physicians and consumers." This site is divided into three sections. The consumer health section is popular with non-professionals. The Physician Services and Office Services sections require registrations before searching.
