American Psychological Association The APA's official site is intended for students and professionals. It contains news features, sells APA products and services, lists jobs, and provides a calendar of upcoming conferences. Classics in the History of Psychology This site is maintained by Christopher D. Green of York University, Toronto. It contains the text of "significant" documents in the field of psychology. Author or topic searches take the user to books and journal articles in full text. There are also links text documents on other sites. Encyclopedia of Psychology This site is in the form of a textbook on general psychology. Pages contain original information written by experts and links to other sites. National Institute of Mental Health The NIMH is a federal government agency and is part of the US National Institutes of Health. It contains information about grants being offered for the study of mental illness. There is information about specific disorders, which is useful to consumers. The Personality Project This web page is a general overview of personality. Each section of the page has links and a bibliography. Academic links include journals, information on current research, course syllabi, and home pages of researchers. Psych Central: Dr. John Grohol's Mental Health Page Grohol is a well-known, syndicated columnist for popular news magazines. His web site is one of the oldest on the Internet. A simple keyword search provides articles from Grohol's writings and other web pages. There is also a chat room. Psych Web This is a directory of Internet sites on psychology. It locates documents, academic departments, other web sites, and APA style information. Well Place: the Pursuit of Happiness This site replaces Behavioral Health Online. This site is free but requires a registration in order to read articles and participate in chat forums. Users can log in as Personal Members or Professional Members. There are articles, chat rooms, news items, and fact sheets. Subject Specific Psychology Sites
Cognitive and Psychological Sciences on the Internet This is a directory site with links to academic programs, journals, organizations, conferences, usenet groups, and discussion lists in the field of cognitive psychology. Internet Psychology Lab This page is divided into four sections: Memory and learning, Visual perception, Cognition, and Auditory perception. Each of these categories is further divided into topics. Each topic area contains textual information and online experiments. Special plug-ins are required to do some of the online experiments. Marvin MinskyThis web site is produced by Marvin Minsky, professor at MIT. He is well known for his publications on intelligence, especially Society of the Mind. He works in the fields of mathematics, artificial intelligence, cognitive psychology, computational linguistics and robotics. Neuropsychology Central This is a directory site to web pages dealing with the topic of neuropsychology. There are links to pages on forensic, geriatric, and pediatric neuropsyhology. Other links are to related sites: treatment centers, publishers, and organizations. An overall search is also possible. Social Psychology Network This site, located at Wesleyan University, claims to be the "largest social psychology database on the Internet." It has links to more than 5000 social psychology web sites. There is a simple, single search box for finding sites by keyword; or, links can be found by subject area. Other features include: a list of schools offering graduate programs in social psychology, a directory of social psychologists, teacher resources, and professional journals.
