Orders of Chivalry

There are no historically Irish Orders of Chivalry. The Order of St. Patrick is a British order, now extinct, which rewarded efforts on behalf of the British Crown in Ireland, but it is clearly an English creation.

The Ancient Gaelic Warrior Orders, in some ways, resembled Orders of Chivalry, but they actually predated the concept of chivalry, which grew out of the Crusades. None of the Gaelic warrior elites (lucht tighe) have survived to the present day.

Of recent foundation, the Chompananch na Craoibhe Rioga is a dynastic honor conferred by The O'Conor Don, Prince of Connacht.
