If you don't have a virus scan program such as McAfee or Norton Antivirus you may go to http://housecall.antivirus.com using internet explorer to scan your machine manually.

Directions for housecall.antivirus.com:

Go to the website. You can choose to register so you recieve virus notificatons from housecall or you can simply click on the scan without registration. Select your country from the dropdown list, click go. When asked if you want to run and install the trend micro software click yes. Wait for autoupdate software to load. Place a check mark next to the drive you want to scan.

Make sure to scan all local harddrives. You may also check Auto Clean. Then click the Scan button. Wait for the scanning software to complete.

This website is not meant to replace the purchase of a virus scanning product. This software will not prevent you from becoming infected. It will only clean your machine off after it is infected. If your machine has been infected long enough your computer may have sustained permanent damage and even after cleaning, it may need to be completely reinstalled.

Our univerisity uses McAfee VirusScan to scan university owned machines, however Norton Antivirus is another common virus scanning product. Both software titles can be purchased at all major computer software stores.
