SERVER DOWN TIMES

We will be upgrading the NT servers to Windows 2000, (Winona Academic Faculty/Staff Offices only),  throughout the month of May.
The initial planned down time (hopefully the longest) will be
May 18th - 20th.   This outage will mainly effect File and Print services off of Rex2 and Booboo.
On
Friday May 18th Booboo will be down all day.  Booboo  (Affects Off campus access to Library databases & Lyris Listserv's)
The Campus distribution lists won't work and the software that permits off campus access to the Library Databases won't function.

On Saturday, May 19,  Rex2 will be down.
You won't be able to access the following drives during the outage:
REX2 (Effects Winona Campus Only)
G: or Personal Drive Space on the network
P: or Public Drive
O: or Course Materials
V: or Apps/Mac Apps

For Winona Campus Users that will be here on Saturday, May 19th.:  If you would like to work on Documents that are currently saved to any of the drives on REX2 copy them to your local computer on Friday afternoon.  So you'll be able to work on them Saturday and pleas copy them back to the Rex drives on  Monday after the upgrades.
It is important to note that you'll still have access to the Empower system, Email, WebCT and Web Browsing during this weekend time frame.

**LAST CHANCE**
Summer 2001 Upgrades  --  Academic Faculty/Staff ONLY

Summer 2001:  (Winona Campus)
We will be upgrading to Windows 2000  on all the servers and a majority of the desktop machines on campus.  We will be upgrading a variety of PC's and Mac machines, as we do every summer.  As last summer, you'll need to have all your personal files saved to the g: drive or faculty drive on the Macintosh, PRIOR TO May 12th.  If you don't save your personal files to your g drive or faculty drive on the Macintosh, THEY WILL BE GONE when you come back to campus in the fall.  We will not be calling to confirm that you have finished this process.  After May 12th we will assume you have backed up your appropriate personal files to your personal storage space on the network.  If you have installed specialized programs on your machine we need to get a listing of that software from you before  May 12, 2001.  It would be helpful if we had a copy of the installation disks and any other numbers  or keys that are needed during installation,  otherwise,  you'll be required to reinstall the software on your own after returning to campus.
REMEMBER:
This summer will bring another year of upgrades to SMU computers.  Please save files to your G Drive; personal files, class documents, etc…
Also, if you have specific software (other than the standard software installed by SMU) on your machine that you want reloaded, get a list of this software to Jeff Wieczorek.
