Public Relations and Business Club

Name:

The name of this organization shall be the Public Relations and Business Club.

Purposes and Goals:

The purpose of this club is to promote the study of public relations by  helping students with career planning and networking in the public relations field.  Further purposes of this club will be to help other student activities at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota with the public relations planning of their respective groups or activities, and to facilitate social interaction between students and faculty at Saint Mary’s University and the professional world. The goals of this club are to help more completely fulfill the objectives of this university by encouraging the pursuit of excellence in the public relations field.

Function:

This organization shall meet its purposes and goals by sponsoring events such as lecturers, speakers, field trips, educational programs, and by attempting to become a member of the national public relations society.  PRSA (Public Relations Society of America).  The PRSA is an official activity of the Public Relations Society of America.

Authority:

The authority of this club to exist is derived from the Student Senate at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

Membership:

Membership is open to all students and faculty who have an interest in promoting the club’s purposes.  New members are welcome and admitted at any time during the year.

Elections:

Officers shall be elected of a quorum of members present at the meeting during which the vote is taken near the end of each school year.  Officers to take office at the start of the following school year.

Officers:

The officers shall be made up of the president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and moderator. All officers, except the moderator, shall be Saint Mary’s University students.  The moderator shall be a Saint Mary’s University faculty member. The president will prepare agendas for and chair all meetings. The vice president will keep track of the current members and notify all the members of all meetings and activities. The secretary is in charge of taking minutes of each meeting. The treasurer shall be in charge of the budget, financial records, and all other financial matters.

Meetings:

Public relations club meetings will be held whenever the officers deem necessary.

Annual Reports:

The public relations club will submit an annual report to the Student Senate by March 1st, of each year.

Funds:

The public relations club will petition funds from the Student Senate and from any grant monies given to Saint Mary’s University for which this organization is eligible.

Amendments:

Amendments can be brought before the club at any time and will be considered, discussed and voted on by the public relations club membership before being committed to the constitution.
