Consultation and Programming
SMU Counseling Services offers consultation to University faculty, departments, and organizations for issues related to mental health, personal development, learning, and performance.
We are available to consult about individual student concerns that faculty, staff or concerned friends bring to us. However, it must be understood that client confidentiality will be respected in all circumstances and with students who are Counseling Services clients, we are able to listen to concerns, but are not able to divulge any information that we have or even acknowledge that we know the student unless the student
Programs
We are available to make presentations to campus groups and classes. Some possible topic areas include:
- Stress Management
- Depression and mood disorders
- Alcohol and other drug issues
- Common mental health issues
- Time Management and Overcoming Procrastination
- Problems with Eating
- Improving Academic Motivation and Performance
- Overcoming Test Anxiety
- Overcoming Public Speaking Anxiety
- And others
